Aljaz Skorjanec appeared to zone out during an interview with Strictly Come Dancing partner Kate Silverton on It Takes Two.

The Slovenian-born dancer was chatting to presenter Zoe Ball about the BBC dance competition on Tuesday evening when he seemed to forget where he was.

His sister Lara had recently given birth to a baby girl named Zala and the new arrival was clearly still on his mind during the discussion.

In fact, during the interview, 28-year-old Aljaz had to ask Zoe, 47, to repeat a question.

Apologising, he explained: “I'm an uncle it's hard to focus. It’s hard to focus as that is all I’m thinking of.

“I love you Lara and I love you Zala and I can't wait to meet you."

Congratulating Aljaz on being an uncle, Zoe enthused: “Yes, congratulations!” As she applauded the star.

On Monday, Aljaz took to social media to welcome Zala, sharing a picture of his niece on his Instagram page.

Alongside an adorable snap of the tot, Aljaz wrote: “Welcome to the world little Zala! Best day ever! #CallMeUncle.”

Meanwhile, his wife and Strictly co-star Janette shared the same photo with the caption: “Meet little Zala.... Congratulations @laraskorjanec & @nejcljubic! #AuntJanette.”

It comes after Aljaz shared a sweet photograph of him with Kate’s son, which many of his fans confused for his own child.

The professional dancer posed beside four-year-old Wilbur on sunny day out, captioning the snap: “Wilbur and I had a fun morning, such a little gent! #littlesunshine.“

Fans were quick to mistake Wilbur for Aljaz’s son, with one writing: “He’s so much like you.”

Another claimed: “He has your beautiful smile, Aljaz,” while a third said: “OMG you look like each other.”

Earlier this year, Aljaz’s spouse Janette, who he married last summer, revealed they plan to have children in the near future.

She told The Mirror: “The next couple of years I think we will definitely have some big baby news.”

“We both really want children,” she insisted. “We’re both really broody, AljaĆŸ and I, we just love kids.”

She continued: “He is going to be a great dad. We always joke that he will be the one that lets the kids get away with anything.

“I will have to be the one to set the rules in the house.”

it Take Two continues tonight on BBC One at 6.30pm.
