Debbie McGee in stitches on Would I To You? over Bob Mortimer’s cheeky joke | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Category: Entertainment,Gossip

Debbie McGee was the first contestant on the BBC show to deliver a story where the opposing team had to guess whether she was telling the truth or not.

The 59-year-old told a wild tale about her accidentally setting off an alarm hidden in her bikini bottoms leading to policeman turning up to her house.

While it turned out to be absolutely true, there was something else that set the whole studio howling.

“The police once surrounded my house after I set off an alarm in my bikini bottoms,” she told the panel.

“It was the house alarm. I was ironing in the garden with my bikini on and I had the remote control tucked down my bikini bottoms.

“I didn’t know because it doesn’t set the alarms off, it just rings the police,” she said. “So 15 policemen came round the corner,” Debbie McGee.

“How did they react? Did they see the funny side?” Rob enquired.

“Yes,” she began before Bob cheekily interjected to say: “No, she wasn’t facing them.”

Bob proceeded to put his head in his hands in disbelief at what he had just said.

Both teams erupted in laughter and Debbie held her hands to her face as she struggled to compose herself.

“I’m so sorry, Debbie,” Bob laughed.

Rob then added: “I know that’s rude but I can’t quite figure out why.”

The show then swiftly returned to order after the brief moment of chaos and the teams discovered Debbie was actually telling the truth.

Debbie has also recently spoken out about what it’s been like to see her former Strictly Come Dancing partner Giovanni Bernice dance with Faye Tozer on this year’s series.

She said she hasn’t been at all “jealous” of Faye as she’s watched the competition.

“I thought I’d be really jealous because all of last year he kept saying to me, ‘Darling, you will be so jealous next year,’” Debbie revealed on the Telegraph’s Strictly podcast. “But I really wasn’t.

“I really want them to do well, I just wanted her to do her best because I had such a great time and I’ve made such a great friend in Giovanni.”

The former magicians assistant explained she would have felt more jealous had she not been in contact with Giovanni on a regular basis.

“Because we’re in touch all the time and we’re mates I kind of knew a lot of what was going on anyway,” she continued.

Would I Lie To You? continues Friday at 9.30pm on BBC One.
