Ayda, 39, was joined by her husband Robbie Williams, 44, Louis Tomlinson, 26, and Simon Cowell, 58, as the contestant took to the stage.

From Birmingham, hopeful Scott Wilkes arrived in a confident manner ready to blow the judges away.

However, it wasn’t his vocals that caught the judges' attention as his performance took a very bizarre twist.

As the song came to an end, Scott decided to add the shock factor by taking off his shirt and waistcoat in one last attempt to win the judges over.

Scott exuded charm as he introduced himself to the judges, with Ayda taking a liking to the singing hopeful.

Before he began his performance he asked: “Do you want to hear some swing?” as the audience cheered.

Ayda replied: “I want to swing with you Scott.”

However, as he performed his rendition of Billy Paul’s hit song Me and Mrs Jones, the 22-year-old seemed a bit too confident which didn’t impress members of the audience.

As the song came to and end, the singer took off his shirt after he received an unwelcome silence from the audience when he asked: “Do you want me to take my shirt off?”

Unfortunately, Scott’s performance fell flat with the judges and he was told by Simon it wasn’t going to happen for him this year.

Ayda wasn’t the only one unimpressed by the striptease, with viewers of the show taking to Twitter to voice their thoughts about the moment.

One wrote: “What’s he doing #xfactor,” clearly shocked by what they were watching.

Another added: “You could hear a pin drop after that #XFactor."

While a third commented “What the fudge is going on?! Criiiiiinge! #xfactor.”

“Absolutely the most embarrassing audition ever!!! #xfactor,” a fourth stated.

A fifth reiterated many other viewers comments, writing: “Omg that guy taking his shirt off! cringe #xfactor.”

Also on tonight’s show, to perform a rendition of I Believe In A Thing Called Love.

Nervously taking to the stage, Richard asked Robbie for some advice on how to give a stand out performance.

After his performance impressed three of the four judges, Simon went on to say: “You don’t sound like you look. If this is where you want to go musically, personally I think that’s a big mistake.

“I mean what are you in real life, a mouse or a lion?" the music mogul added.

He was taken aback when Richard admitted he was an on-call firefighter.

Robbie then sat up as yelled at Simon: “In your face,” as the audience applauded the young man.

However, the hopeful got three yeses from the judges taking him through to the next round.

X Factor continues tomorrow at 8pm on ITV.
