On last night’s , Charity (played by Emma Atkins) explained she was desperate to find her father and find out why he’d kicked her out of the house at such a young age.

Tonight, Charity visited her father, but wasn’t sure if the meeting would go down well and was hesitant about coming face-to-face with him.

Will she regret letting Obadiah Dingle (Paul Copley) back into her life?

One thing’s for certain, Charity couldn’t have prepared for the heartbreaking news she discovered about her mother.

After tearing her father apart with criticisms, Charity said: “But I do have good memories of you.

“Took me to the beach every day one summer. Just me and you. You held my hand.

“I remember walking along the beach and I was so little. Your voice, it was softer then and you held my hand and I loved you.

“Nobody else’s dad took them to the beach every day. So of you to do that for hours on end, you must have loved me a little bit?”

Obadiah then revealed a shocking twist to the story Charity had been told as a youngster.

He explained: “I only took you because there was no-one to have you. We went to the beach because I was searching for your mother’s body.”

Charity’s mother Kathleen Dingle had actually taken her own life, with her father “protecting her from the truth”.

Shocked, Charity questioned: “But, what do you mean? That’s not right. It can’t be. She died of cancer?”

Obadiah explained: “She left a note and took her car up to the cliff. Somebody saw. Then she was gone.

“After a while, I stopped going to the beach with you and I went to the pub instead.”

The pair later tussled with a bottle of alcohol after Obadiah said the couple’s life was easier before Charity was born and that she had “driven him to drink”.

Leaving her dad, Charity walked off as he called out: “Charity, Charity!”

She snapped back: “Can’t stop, I’ve got things to do, kids to adore! Are you watching this mum? I love you too.”

Charity then drove off in her car as the camera panned up to the sky. Will she return, or will this spark the character’s exit?

Elsewhere on the soap, Daz Spencer (Mark Jordon) aired his worries to Dan Spencer (Liam Fox) and Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton) after losing his job.
