Strictly Come Dancing has confirmed to the the official celebrity lineup for this year’s series will be announced on Monday 13 August.

Whilst speculation continues to circle around which famous faces will be taking to the dance floor, it is highly likely a BBC presenter will join the competition. ran a poll asking: “Which BBC  Breakfast presenter of you want to sign up to Strictly Come Dancing?”

Steph was the most popular presenter in the poll with 45 per cent of voters desperate to see her compete for the Glitterball.

She was followed closely by sports journalist Sally Nugent was second with 17 per cent of the votes.

Dan Walker and Charlie Stayt came third and fourth place with very close scores.

Could Steph be following the in the footsteps of Natasha Kaplinsky, Bill Turnbull and John Sergeant and taking part in this year’s series?

Back in 2015, Steph, a former Irish dance champion, spoke to Teesside Live about her dreams of appearing on the popular dancing show and said: “It’s not going to happen this time round, but in the future who knows? I would love to do it.”

Steph also confirmed her love for the show when she was spotted several times in the live audience in 2017’s Strictly Come Dancing.

Alongside a potential BBC Breakfast presenter, there are several other celebrities who have been rumoured to sign up, following Radio Times reporting the producers have signed up all 15 contestants earlier this week.

According to The Mirror, presenter and former Gogglebox star Scarlett Moffatt has teased fans with an “exciting” project for the end of the year.

Chatting to her followers in an Instagram Q&A last month, she said: “I can’t announce anything yet but let’s just say the end of the year is going to be great fun."

The former professional ballroom dance champion is also expected to return to hosting I’m A Celebrity spin off show Extra Camp, which is set to kick off in November and could therefore clash with the BBC series.

Mark Labbett - more affectionately known as The Beast on ITV teatime favourite The Chase - has also been rumoured.

Last year, during an episode of The Chase, he had to answer a question about Strictly.

Afterwards, host Bradley Walsh asked him if he’d want to do the show himself and Mark replied: “I’d love to. Have they got anyone tall enough for me to dance with?”

Former Love Island star Montana Brown has also registered her interest for the show.

Asked in a Superdrug magazine interview about starring in more reality shows, she said: “The only other one I’d do is Strictly, as I’m a terrible dancer and I’d love to learn properly.”

However, Montana’s chance of raising the Glitterball could be slim, as The Sun suggested Strictly bosses are not signing up any reality TV stars this year.

The publication reported executives of the show have banned reality stars appearing on the show, which has now narrowed down the choice of celebs.

Strictly Come Dancing returns this autumn to BBC One.
