Stacey Dooley: Strictly Come Dancing's Graeme Swann says he will replace her | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Strictly Come Dancing 2018 is nearly halfway through the series and celebrity contestant Stacey and professional dance partner Kevin Clifton joined Gethin Jones on BBC Two’s It Takes Two earlier this evening.

They, along with fellow contestant Graeme Swann and Oti Mabuse were backstage at the Elstree studios ahead of tomorrow night’s live show.

Gethin asked each couple about their upcoming dances, however Stacey’s response indicated she wasn’t too keen to dance the Waltz.

At that moment Graeme stepped in and joked he would take her place.

“Quick word on the dance,” Gethin said to Stacey and Kevin. “Moon River - beautiful.”

“Yes, we’re doing the Waltz to Moon River,” Kevin replied before asking his partner sarcastically: “You’re loving it aren’t you?”

Those watching at home just saw Stacey look up at Gethin and slowly nod, without saying anything.

Taking her response as noncommittal, Gethin turned his attention to Graeme.

He said: “Graeme Swann, Graeme Swann, what do you think Stacey is making of the Waltz?"

“If she don’t want to do it, i’ll do it with Kev,” he laughed. “Oh what a song.”

It comes after viewers were shown a clip from Stacey and Kevin’s rehearsals of the Waltz.

In it, she admitted she was initially confident, but now concerned.

She confessed: “I thought I would be fine at the Waltz. I thought I’ve got the ballroom, I’ll be good to go. But actually it’s tricky.”

Kevin added: “I’m not taking it easy on Stacey in this dance, I’m putting in a lot of complicated choreography.’

Discussing the specific aspects she struggled with, Stacey pin-pointed the pace of the dance and said: “It’s so slow.”

In turn this makes her feel “totally exposed” to everyone watching and the judges.

Kevin finished: “It takes a lot of control through the ankles and feet to really hang on to the beats and make them as smooth as possible.”

Last week, Stacey and Kevin danced the couples choice, Street Commercial, and scored a solid 36 combined judges points for it.

Whilst they are the favourites to lift the Glitterball Trophy this series, can this week’s Waltz score them higher?

Strictly Come Dancing 2018 returns tomorrow night at 7pm on BBC One.
