Poldark season 5 spoilers Lady Whitworth Rebecca Front discusses return to BBC cast | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Poldark fans recently found out the hit BBC series will only air for one more series.

And in anticipation of season five, many are wondering who will star in the cast of the new episodes.

The fourth instalment saw Ross Poldark (played by Aidan Turner) and Demelza (Eleanor Tomlinson) fight to save their marriage following a string of affairs from both parties.

As a side story, poor Morwenna (Ellise Chappell) was tortured by Ossie Whitworth (Christian Brassington), leaving viewers upset.

She was raped numerous times but thankfully for Morwenna, Ossie was brutally murdered.

And when the beloved character married Drake Carne (Harry Richardson), his evil mother, Lady Whitworth (Rebecca Front) was certainly left red-faced.

As Poldark season four ended, the twisted matriarch seemed to fade into the background after moving out of her beautiful home.

But as season five approaches, could Lady Whitworth return to cause more trouble for Morwenna and her new husband?

Express.co.uk recently caught up with Rebecca at the TV Choice Awards and grilled her about the upcoming action.

When asked if she would return to the BBC drama, The Thick Of It actress confessed: “I genuinely don’t know! Your guess is as good as mine.

“That’s a mystery to me but I’d love to. It would be nice,” she explained.

Lady Whitworth’s story was certainly left open-ended and there would definitely be space for her to return.

But with Poldark season five being the last, it seems more likely the writers will focus more on Ross and Demelza in a bid to tie up their story.

Rebecca also opened up on what it was like to play Lady Whitworth, saying she had a lot of fun on the project.

She said: “I mean the wig kind of does all the work so once the wig was on [I can’t] move very much so it makes me very austere.

“It was such a thrill to play someone like that in an iconic series.

“Someone who was so vile and kind of shakes everything up a little bit.”

Rebecca went on to speak about working with Christian, calling him “the nicest person”.

“We ended up having a lot of fun and becoming good friends as a result of it," she said.

Poldark will return to BBC One next year.
