Grease favourite, Olivia Newton-John 69, revealed she has cancer in her lower spine during an interview on Australia’s Sunday Night earlier this week.

But the actress clearly isn’t letting the disease defeat her as she was captured looking in high spirits at the annual Wellness Walk and Research Run in Melbourne yesterday.

Olivia confidently spoke at the event, which raises funds to support cancer research and wellness programmes at her Cancer Wellness and Research Centre in Victoria.

She also posed for pictures with her supportive husband John Easterling, who she married in 2008.

Olivia opted for casual attire wearing a green jacket with white sunglasses and mingled with the crowd who showed their support.

Her appearance at the event comes less than a week after she announced she has been diagnosed with cancer for a third time.

Speaking to host Alex Cullen, she said she had a cancer tumour in her lower back, but refused to let it beat her.

She commented: "My husband's always there, and he's always there to support me, and I believe I will win over it and that's my goal.”

Olivia cancelled her tour to complete a short course of radiation therapy and she admitted she was treating the disease with “modern” medicines and natural remedies.

John founded the Amazon Herb Company and grows cannabis which helps treat her.

She added: “In California, it’s legal to grow a certain amount of plants for your own medicinal purposes.

“I’m very lucky that I live in a state where it’s legal and that I have a husband that is a plant-medicine man.”

Olivia continued: “I am one of millions in this journey. I see it as part of my mission maybe.”

Back in 1992, Olivia was first diagnosed with breast cancer.

After overcoming disease, she was diagnosed with breast cancer again in 2013.

This time the cancer had spread to her shoulder, but the actress decided to keep the news to herself.

Revealing why she stayed quiet about the diagnosis, she said: “I thought ‘It’s my life’ and I just decided to keep it to myself.”

Olivia rose to fame in hit movie Grease, starring as the main character alongside John Travolta, 64, who played her boyfriend Danny Zuko.

The actress revealed she was apprehensive about taking on the role as a teenager when she was 29-years-old, but claimed John reassured her.

She said: “He’s a beautiful man.

“He said ‘You know what? Nobody in the film is gonna be 18, so you don’t have to worry’.”
