Barry Chuckle died aged 73 surrounded by family and friends, his manager and brother Paul confirmed yesterday.

The TV star reportedly didn’t attend his brother Jimmy's wedding, who tied the knot with Amy Phillips, 27, in April last year.

Amy’s dad claimed the star was “too ill” to attend their big day.

He told The Sun: “Supposedly Barry was ill, that’s all I know.”

Express.co.uk has contacted a representative for Barry Elliot for comment.

It is believed Jimmy, 86, met Amy on Facebook and they tied the knot at a registry office, according to her mother.

Jimmy previously told the publication: “Amy had been a fan of ChuckleVision all of her life and commented on something I posted.

“It just went from there. I never thought I would find this kind of love again.”

Barry and Paul’s brother Jimmy is famous in his own right and has been performing alongside their other sibling Brian as the Patton Brothers since 1954.

Jimmy and Brian have also appeared on ChuckleVision, which ran for 21 series from 1987 to 2009.

Meanwhile, news of Barry’s death emerged yesterday, with his manager Phil Dale confirming he had died surrounding by his friends and family to Express.co.uk.

He said: “It is with great sadness that the family announce that Barry passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his wife Ann and all his family.

"The family would like to express their thanks to the many people who have been fans of The Chuckle Brothers and they know that they will share in part the great, great loss they feel.”

He added: “There will be no further comment at the moment and it would be much appreciated if the privacy of Barry's family is respected at this most difficult time" adding that the star "leaves 50 years of laughter as his legacy which is something very special.”

Jimmy paid tribute to his brother, telling BBC news: “He was a wonderful lad and a great comedian. It's been a wonderful life together."

Barry’s brother and co-star Paul also confirmed the news on Twitter.

He said: “I’ve not just lost my brother, I've lost my theatrical partner of many, many years and my very best friend."

From his Twitter page, Paul’s wife Sue thanked his 131,000 followers for their support and told them he is “absolutely devastated.”

She penned: “Paul has asked me to send a message to thank EVERYONE for your lovely messages this morning, he is absolutely devastated so unable to respond himself but your messages really do help and he knows Barry would so happy to know how much he was loved, Sue.”
